I’ll never forget when I was in elementary school and Cheerios started making the MultiGrain variety of the cereal. While the name implied that they would be healthy and boring, they were actually incredibly flavorful and delicious. But still healthy. Since then, General Mills has continued to update their Cheerios flavors with varieties like Frosted Cheerios, Fruity Cheerios, Cheerios Crunch, and Yogurt Cheerios. And now there’s another new Cheerio on the block.
We are not Martha recently received a box of Banana Nut Cheerios from BlogSpark to try out. I was put in charge of the sampling as Chels has nut allergies and didn’t want to risk anything. At first I was a little skeptical. I thought, “Why not just cut up some real, healthy bananas to put in your cereal?” Are we that lazy?? But then I tried the Banana Nut Cheerios. The cereal is actually really delicious and leaves that milk at the bottom of the bowl with a delicious banana flavor. And then I realized that we can eat Banana Nut Cheerios AND add bananas too it for…double the banana flavor.
And then I remembered “duh, cereal isn’t just for eating out of a bowl with milk.” You can now eat your cheerios and banana on the go without any mess. Also, the Cheerios website offers tons of ideas for recipes you can make with Banana Nut Cheerios. Like Chocolate Banana Bread. And Banana Nut Snack Bars. I will definitely be experimenting with a few of these recipes and reporting back.

The strawberry yogurt ones are simply amazing. They are one of my ultimate indulgences (since it’s like $5 for a 12 oz. box here in Chicago).
But I’m intrigued by this new Banana Nut flavor…hmmmm.

The vanilla yogurt covered ones were great, but Apple Cinnamon rocks my world.

I am such a Cheerioes fan. I’ve tried the new banana nut and love them.
I haven’t yet tasted the banana flavor but I love love the Honey Nut flavor. We got the little box of cereal in the newspaper and well hubby was the one to gobble up the banana flavor.

This is awesome! My favorite Cheerios are Honey Nut Cheerios. They remind me of trips I’d take to visit with my grandparents. I used to eat these as a kid with fresh strawberries.

I may be boring but I like the plain cheerios in milk with a little sugar on top and sliced bananas. I’m a huge banana fan though so I may have to try this cereal. I bet it would be good in a trail mix.

My favorite are Apple Cinnamon Cheerios as they hold a special place in my heart. They were the only “sweet” cereal my mom would let me eat as a kid – none of that Trix or unhealthy stuff!
