Last night we had the pleasure of being invited to the grand unveiling of the new Bella Luna Restaurant and Milky Way Lounge in Jamaica Plain. We’ve been to some fabulous events at Bella Luna before, but this one, celebrated in their new space on Amory Street, was the best yet.
There’s also a smaller, private room in the restaurant, with a DJ booth. It would be a super cute place for an intimate gathering!
Bella Luna has a full, really extensive bar and also have a good number of craft beers on tap. AND Sam Adams actually brews Sun Ray Beer exclusively for Bella Luna.
We found that their mojitos and martiniques were absolutely delicious.
We got the opportunity to try a bunch of selections from their menu. They were more than generous with the food, which was fabulous because we got to try a little bit of everything. The executive chef, Jacob Zachow does an excellent job with everything, resulting in some pretty fantastic food.
Bella Luna serves local artisanal cheeses, which is fabulous as we’re suckers for anywhere that serves a cheese plate for an appetizer.
Their eggplant parmesan is an incredibly flavorful vegetarian option.
The ricotta gnocchi with sweet sausage, tomatoes, and broccolini was delicious. We also had a super tender pork tenderloin served with amazing sweet potato chips that had the perfect amount of crunch.
They also had a huge salad station as well as a station to make your own flatbread pizza. We haven’t tried their pizzas yet, but have heard really amazing things about them.
The dessert table was completely fabulous. Lots of chocolate fondue, molten chocolate cake, key lime pie, and more.
Our favorite part was the smoothies. In addition to a strawberry and mint yogurt smoothie, there was one with orange juice and tequila and one with banana and Kahlua. The banana one went absolutely perfectly with the molten chocolate cake.
They even had entertainment planned for us! A really fun percussion group called Bloco Afrobrazil played a few songs and had everyone dancing along. They were so talented and the perfect addition to the evening.
Sues and Steph enjoying the entertainment
Steph and Sara got up to dance!
We’re pretty big Bella Luna fans!
Everyone involved in Bella Luna Milky Way is so nice and welcoming. They do a lot for the community and support lots of local organizations. In fact, 1% of all their sales are donated to local non-profits.
And look! Mayor Menino came to the event to participate in the ribbon-cutting and talk about how he thinks Bella Luna is pretty fabulous too.
We’re also really anxious to try out their brunch on Saturdays and Sundays.
