A couple weeks ago, we had a picnic! Well, kind of. As you know, the weather in Boston hasn’t been all that fabulous this summer. And especially last month, it basically rained non-stop. We got sick of waiting for the rain to stop (and feared that it never would), so we decided to have a picnic on Chels’s deck, which was absolutely perfect.
And also take a look at a few more photos from our picnic experience:
Below are the raspberry lemonade ice cubes made to go into the raspberry lemonade. This is an awesome picnic idea because you don’t want your drink getting watered down from regular old ice cubes when they start to melt. Plus, how pretty are these?
The perfect jug, from the Container Store, for picnic lemonade (or any drink!). It’s easy to carry and looks incredibly cute as well. We may or may not have added a little bit of tequila to the raspberry lemonade as well. It was pretty amazing!
We love the idea of bringing salads on picnics and this corn and asparagus salad was refreshing, healthy, and delicious.
Pizza might not sound like the perfect picnic food, but if you made little individual pizzas and top them with fun toppings (we LOVE grapes on pizza), they’re perfect.
Not to mention, individual pizza boxes lined with kraft paper (also from the Container Store) make transporting your pizzas to your picnic spot an easy task. We highly recommend buying pizza dough from Bertucci’s if you don’t want to make your own. And topping them with goat cheese and grapes. Yum!
Quiche in another perfect picnic food because you can cut it into individual pieces and easily pack it up in Tupperware. Also, quiche is delicious when served at room temperature, so you don’t have to worry about it getting cold. We had a lovely caramelized onion and gruyere cheese quiche.
And veggies and dip are always a good picnic snack. Cut up whatever veggies you choose, put them in little baggies or Tupperware, and make some sort of cold dip. We went with a honey curry dip.
For dessert we had individual mini lime cheesecakes with fresh fruit made by Katie. Again, perfect, because they’re in individual servings and can be easily packed.
Our nice little setup for the picnic on the patio, with the Herald photographer.
We wish the weather had been nicer so we could go to one of our favorite picnic spots, but as you can see, we still had a glorious evening. Thank you to all our friends who joined us! We wish we had more pictures of the whole crew dining al fresco, but we’ll definitely be doing it again soon!
