Sues’s Favorite Things #7

Chels is still vacationing in Florida (lucky girl!), so she’ll be adding her own favorite things #7 when she returns this weekend- all nice and relaxed and rejuvenated! Also, I miss her and can’t wait till she comes back to Boston! In the meantime, here are my favorite things for the week!

Sues’s Favorite Things

Beth and Adam’s Goodbye!-

OK, so I don’t enjoy saying goodbye to my sister and her husband ever (it feels like they leave WAY too much), but I enjoyed our little goodbye party to send them off to Hawaii. It was kind of last minute, so my  parents said it wouldn’t be anything fancy. So, my mom just roasted some shrimp a la Ina Garten:

And threw together some quick salads:

And my dad threw some food on the grill:

And that is nothing fancy to my parents. We had a fun little evening with my family, Chris, Stef and Adam, and my favorite neighbors Joan and Jim.

I drank wine:

Which really was nothing fancy, as it was from a box. My parents are huge wine drinkers and I think my mom was completely shocked to see my dad had bought wine in a box. He said he read about it in Wine Spectator and wanted to try:

Meh, we weren’t very impressed. Richard from the Passionate Foodie (who’s an extremely knowledgeable winey) recommended I try Poderi Zanusso, so I might just do that. I’ve never been a boxed wine drinker and realize it has the worst reputation ever, but I’m on a quest to see if it really is all that bad (we’re not talking Franzia here!). It is a bit more friendly to the environment! But nothing will ever replace the bottle, I’m sure.

So, my sister and Adam are sadly gone now. But I’m just counting down the days until I’ll be in Hawaii vacationing with them!

Party Favors-

There’s not really much I like more than Party Favors cupcakes. In fact, I’m pretty sure part of the reason I refuse to move from the Coolidge Corner area is because I couldn’t live far from the shop that makes these delicious morsels of love. Basically, Party Favors cupcakes are heaven and if you haven’t had them, you need to.

I try not to eat them too often, but any special occasion that I don’t feel like baking for, I’m at Party Favors. I have to say the service there is never very friendly (and last time I was there, I got cupcakes with Spiderman on them, rather than the flower cupcakes I watched them put in the box), but the baked goods are so delicious, I’m always back. I got my mom a cake there for her birthday celebration and YUM. It was Chocolate Decadence. And that it was:

It was amazing! Though their cupcakes are my #1 favorite, I love everything I’ve ever had from Party Favors. Which is a lot.  Party Favors is located at 1356 Beacon St. in Brookline, MA. You must go!

Martha Stewart’s Glam Look-

While perusing one of our favorite blogs, Diary of a Yummy Mummy (she’s fabulous), I saw a few of these photos.

Huh? Who could this be? It’s Martha Stewart!

Picture 2

Tory Burch currently has a special section on her website dedicated to Martha Stewart and her super style. Of course, I always knew she was stylish and beautiful, but I couldn’t believe how stylish some of these photos were.

Could I love Martha Stewart any more? Didn’t think it was possible!

Hope you all had good weeks with just as much happiness as I did :)

  • Such a fun party. Isn’t roasting such a yummy way to cook shrimp? Once I started roasted it, I couldn’t go back to the boiling method,

Who knew Martha started out like that? Definitely more stylish back then than I would have ever given her credit for!
