I love the Container Store! Was just there this week. I'm terrible about keeping papers organized. A few years ago I went nuts with manila folders and my label maker and went crazy organizing my file cabinet. It looks so good and was so effective for a long time. Then I moved in with my husband and it all went to hell! We have a "mailbox" in our kitchen that's supposed to keep all our papers (bills, coupons, etc) until they can be filed. And the result is that the mailbox is overflowing. Oh well!

I'm pretty good about dealing with mail as soon as it arrives. But the boyfriend however, is not. It's frustrating. And sometimes his mail has important bills inside, which make me want to scream. But I also don't want to be his mom. Perhaps a letter organizer on our front table would help him.

I tend to think of myself as very organized, but lately I've been so easy that things are getting a bit out of control. Your post is reminding me that I really need to set aside some time to focus on removing some clutter from my life!

We end up leaving our mail all over the table and counter. It's awful We even have these really nice organizer from Pottery Barn hanging in the hallway... with mail slots!

When B and I moved into together, he was constantly amazed at how quickly I'd go through my mail while his would remain stacked forever. I told him that I make a pile for magazines and catalogs I'd like to keep, bills (although I've started opting out for e-billing instead) and what to toss. If it was a credit card application or a bill, I'd shred it with a paper shredder. The few minutes it took to make those piles prevented me from keeping them stacked up and saved me time in the long run!

Great topic. Mail can easily get overwhelming. I take the first pass at ours and divide it into piles of things Josh deals with (bills ;)) and things I deal with (everything else- aka the fun stuff). I try to get all of the credit card applications and just general junk shredded and out of the way. Any coupons go in a separate pile which I sort through before shopping
