Luxury Chocolate Salon Tasting

Earlier this summer, Chels and I had the honor of being judges for Taste TV’s Luxury Chocolate Salon. What exactly did this mean? Well, we were sent a HUGE package filled with chocolate. And we were told to eat it all. And judge it. Have I mentioned lately how much I love being a blogger? Boxes of chocolate sent to us? Dreams are coming true. This is what it looked like when we unpacked it all.

You could call it the best day ever. I’m pretty sure the two of us gained at least 8 pounds apiece when we sat down to eat it. And by the time we were done, we swore off chocolate for a while. Yeah, that lasted like a day.

So, what chocolates were our favorites? Well, we have a video to show you that. We had just started indulging when Chris walked in the door and decided we should video tape our experience. So we did. Excuse the fact that I’m not wearing makeup. And am stuffing my face with chocolate. Typical day for me, really. Also, please note, it was 98 degrees out on this day.

Now presenting, our marathon chocolate session! Trust me, it’s been extremely edited. This was a long affair.

Here are some photos of the chocolates you just heard us raving about. Check out that sea salt on the Dean’s Sweets truffles!

There was no denying that William Dean had the very prettiest chocolates. Packaging-wise and actual chocolate design.

Love the leopard print!

I’ve seriously been craving the peanut butter and jelly bar since we tasted it. How can I stock up on these ASAP??

And here’s the aftermath of our chocolate tasting:

Yeah, it was a bit frightening. But frightening in a good way.

If you’re interested in any of the chocolates we tasted- and how could you not be??- here are links to all of their websites:

Dolce Bella Chocolates (We didn’t talk about them in the video, but they were fabulously delicious and unique. The mint and raspberry amazing and so fresh tasting. And the peppered rosemary orange? WOW. They also had a wonderful almond toffee).
Dean’s Sweets
Marti Chocolates
William Dean Chocolates
Aphrodite Chocolates
The Chocolate Truffle
Amano Artisan Chocolates
Alter Eco

We obviously had a blast tasting the chocolates and hope we can find out who the big winners are soon! And in the future, I have a feeling we’d love to attend a real chocolate salon. We’ll consider this tasting our training. And who knew training for something could be so fun?

We’ve been to chocolate heaven and it is divine.

Do you have a favorite artisan chocolate shop?

  • Yum! What could be better than comparing so many delicious chocolates?! I haven’t found a favorite candy place in Boston, but Krause’s (http://www.krausescandy.com/) is the best we’ve found near my hometown

  • I’d have to agree that this was an awesome event to participate in! I still don’t know how you ladies did it in one sitting! My favorite was the PB&J bar. I looked online but didn’t find it being sold through their website – boo!

You two are soo lucky to have been able to do something like this! Totally a dream come true. My favorite chocolatier is Le Maison du Chocolat straight from France. They have a couple shops in NYC and the chocolates are heaven straight from earth. The only way to eat them is a teeny tiny bite at a time so you can savor each moment. I could definitely use one now!
