I got up bright and early Wednesday morning to head down to Florida and had a near hissy fit in the middle of Logan Airport because I realized I left my camera bag in my roommate’s car when she dropped us off. I imagine the feeling I felt when I noticed I didn’t have my camera bag on me is the same feeling a parent experiences when they leave their child at home or lose them in a crowded mall. Or something like that. Instant panic ensued, a little foot stomping (a lot of foot stomping), and some pacing back and fourth. Then I blacked out and a phone call to my roommate occurred where I heard myself saying “Can you just overnight me my camera bag?!”. Knowing full-well that it would be darn expensive but also knowing I wouldn’t be able to shut up the entire vacation about how dumb I am for leaving the thing in the first place. I just know myself. And really? I didn’t want to have to put Melis through that. Thankfully, my roommate is wonderful and after a very stressful workday for her, she went straight to the post office to mail me my child. I mean, camera. And she even insured it.
So $54 and less than 24 hours later, my beloved camera bag arrived in St. Augustine, Florida. We actually missed the mailman so Melis’ dad drove around the neighborhood looking for the mail truck to retrieve the package. Don’t ask how I got such wonderful people in my life. And when I opened the box I actually said “hello” to my camera. Melis starred at me. She knows I’m insane which is why we’ve been friends since age 14.

So on top of that fiasco, having a broken dishwasher and mouse in my apartment Sunday night which resulted in me camping out at Sues’ for a couple hours because i HATE rodents, I just really needed this vacation in Florida. And an adult beverage. STAT.
When we got to here on Wednesday, Melis’ mom had a bottle of PAMA liqueur that she got as a gift and it was starring at us, screaming to be used. I’ve been hearing about PAMA for a while but had never tried it so I went to their website to see what we could concoct. A lot of their recipes sounded really good but we decided to go with the PAMA Cosmo since we had all the ingredients. So simple.
Here’s what you need:

• 1 1/2 oz PAMA Pomegranate Liqueur
• 3/4 oz. Orange Liqueur (we used Grand Marnier)
• 1/2 of a lime, pressed
• Splash of cranberry juice
Here’s what you do:
Get ready… this is quite complicated

• Combine all ingredients into a cocktail shaker,

• Shake hard with ice.

• Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. And garnish with lime.

This cosmo was a great mix of sweet, but not too sweet, and not too alcoholic. It was refreshing with just the right amount of pizazz to make you realize you were actually drinking an adult bevie
I also realized after making one for myself, Melis, and Melis’ mom, that if I were a bartender my lines would be wrapped from here to Timbuktu because I definitely took my time making these
Woops.
Also, on a completely different topic. We ordered fried pickles with dinner tonight.

Melis got a new haircut,

And I giggled the night away because I fell in love. With said fried pickles.

What is your biggest vacation nightmare? I always have dreams of getting to the airport only to realize I’ve left my passport or license at home. Anxiety much!?

I had to laugh but I am the same way. Actually, I had a vacation nightmare where my laptop was stolen (long story but I got it back) and then I left my camera at a restaurant and that got taken. I was so upset at the time.
oh gosh! I’d be horrified as well – so glad you got your camera!
love your photos!
Once my fam was off to London to visit my sister and my grandma DID forget her passport! It was pre-9/11 and some kind man at the desk actually let her get on the plane! Seriously still can’t believe it happened. Enjoy your time in FL – you deserve it!
what camera bag do you have? do you love it? always on the lookout for a good, stylish (and easily portable) camera bag from those who know
have a fun trip!
I would have had my camera overnighted too! I only have a point and shoot, but I love it.
Fried pickles…..yum!!
i miss the st. augustine fun!!! hope you girls are having a blast!
If I had ever left my camera at home I’d be frantic too! Luckily, that hasn’t happened yet. I’m glad you had this drink to wind you down after the panic!
Mmmm yum! Very funny I was telling my boyfriend how I’d like to open a cupcake shop with EVERY type of cupcake you could imagine and we started talking and thinking of how we could make it work. A day later I see a sign up in the window of a luxury building in Watertown down the street from my house that they were opening a new location for Cakes
I can’t wait to try it but you know what… I don’t need my own shop I can make my own little cute creations right in my own kitchen. I will add this recipe to my collection as well
Thanks for the inspiration ladies!
I could use one of those cocktails right about now.
Yum that cocktail looks delicious! Glad you got your camera, I would have panicked too–and I sure hope that mouse and its friends are gone by the time you get home!!
@janel isn’t it crazy to even think there was a time where getting on an international flight w/o a passport was allowed?! i remember my grandmother used to literally WALK me and my sister onto the plane when we were younger and flew alone. miss those days! and now i officially feel old. [chels]
