Our Favorite Things #2

Chels’ Favorite Things

Holiday Weekend down the Cape
I spent my 4th of July down on the Cape with one of my best friends and her family. Missy and I have been best of buds since freshman year of high school. Her family is so awesome (she has 4 brothers!) and I swear her parents are some kind of angels. Anyone who enters their home is automatically welcomed… and given lots of wonderful food to eat :) That weekend we enjoyed tons of bbq, seafood, blueberry pancakes, reminiscing and laughs… as in the photo below. Missy’s dog, Kia, decided to tug on her leash right as the photo was being snapped… I continue to pose for whatever reason?? haha

Ahhh, here we go. Much better! And the fireworks in the background are about to go off :)

My New Table
I was browsing around Target the other day trying to kill some time before dinner with some friends and I stumbled across a lovely and small table that would be perfect for my deck. I’ve always loved that I had a deck at my apartment and I’ve always wanted to enjoy it, but it’s been tricky finding a table that I really like that will fit on it. Someone was looking out for me as I decided to walk into Target that day! It’s the perfect size and… drum roll please… it was only $24!

More to come, in the next couple of weeks, about the delicious food on the table!

Sales at Madewell!

Okay so it’s no secret to those who know me, that one of my most favorite stores is Madewell. I’m addicted. If you think they’re overpriced for not being “designer”, once you get the hang of shopping there, you’ll be in love too (if the BoHo casual look is your thang). For a store that isn’t really known that well (they’re a sister store of J.Crew… another reason to love!) if you’re patient enough the markdowns are wonderful and completely worth the wait.

I’d been eying this black dress for a couple of months. When I first tried it on I wasn’t madly in love with how it fit nor was I in love with the $128.00 price tag. It’s a cute eyelet summery dress and it really is made well (hehe) but, to me, it wasn’t really worth the price. Which is why I bought it the other day because it was marked down to $19.99 with an additional 25% off of that… uhhh yes, $14.99! Brought it home and paired it with this stretchy belt (also from Madewell, bought it back in September) and it made it fit a lot better. Thank youuu patience!

And THEN there’s this adorable yellow vintage pintuck blouse. I love almost any article of clothing that’s yelow. It was originally $58 and marked down to $9.99 with 25% off equals $7.49!!! Really??? Great shopping day. I even bought my sister a shirt that she wanted when it was full price… I only paid $7.49 for that too!

sidenote: I’d like to thank my parents for my love of clothes. They should be proud to know all 3 of their children are self proclaimed shopoholics – but bargain shoppers too! :)

Sues’ Favorite Things

Concord, MA

On what was probably one of the only nice summer days in Boston this year, Chris and I took a little trip to Concord, MA. Our mission was to hang out at Walden Pond for the day. Walk around the pond, visit Thoreau’s house, and just sit and the sun and read (Walden and Civil Disobedience, of course). Unfortunately, by the time we got there, the area was packed, so they had closed it for the day. So we drove around for a while and ended up at Minute Man Park. You know, where the first battle of the Revolutionary War took place. We explored the grounds a bit and just hung out enjoying the weather.

And now I’m dying to go back to Concord to visit Walden Pond and do a million other things I haven’t done since I was a kid. Like go to Ralph Waldo Emerson and Lousia May Alcott’s houses. I always forget how amazing Concord is. Not to mention, it’s the hometown of one of my favorite people, Kyle.

Maybelline Shiny-Licious in Lolly-Pink

If you know me at all, you know I have a serious obsession (bordering on addiction) with lip gloss. I’ve suffered from this ailment since I was a small child and it doesn’t appear to be going away any time soon. So, I’ll probably share with you some of my favorite lip glosses from time to time, since lip gloss is often one of my favorite things on a daily basis. You don’t even want to know how much gloss/chapstick/lip balm/etc. I have. You’ll think I’m insane. Maybe I am? Anyway, Maybelline Shiny-Licious is one of my all-time favorites, specifically in Lolly-Pink. It goes on smoothly, not sticky. Tastes absolutely delicious. And adds the perfect little hint of color. There’s nothing not to love!

And yes, I’ll be a Bonne Bell girl forever and ever.

Going on Vacation

And I’m off on a long weekend of vacation! It’s my sister and her fiance’s joint bachelor/bachelorette party and we’re going on a cruise to the Bahamas. I’ve never been on a cruise before and I’m excited for a nice weekend in the sun and having fun. This vacation is SO needed by me right now!

Hope everyone had a wonderful week and an even better weekend!

One More Reason to Love Target…

There are about ten thousand reasons why I love Target. (And about ten million reasons why I hate it… one being because I go in specifically to buy toothpaste and leave with a carriage full of household goods I never knew I “needed”… and obviously forget to buy the toothpaste…) So, with that said, this is my favorite time of year because it’s the time for Target’s Global Bazaar. A time for me to buy things I really don’t need… but hello… I want them, which then translates into my life not being complete until I have them… which basically means, “yes… I need them”. It’s basically tons of exotic looking furnishings for your house… pillows, throws, mirrors, baskets, sculptures, clocks, furniture… okay, basically everything. Some favorites:

I mean obviously one day I plan to travel the world and collect my own unique sculptures and artwork… but this will have to hold me over for now.
